A bit exciting, actually. For two reasons. First, the voting system is different than in Spain. We always vote to a party list, instead of a candidate. I appreciate the Finnish system, but the number of potential options is initially overwhelming. Then, to be honest, it has been ages since the last time I voted. I always managed to rationalize a reason why not, but I guess laziness and lack of interest was always behind them. This time was a different. Not sure why, but I did care. The end result, very gratifying!. What about you?

In Canada, cities are divided up into constituencies, and one member from each party is available for each, so no matter what party or independent I want to vote for, there's only one representative I can choose. Which means you end up voting for the party, not necessarily the individual.

And I haven't bothered to vote here before either, and in Canada I didn't either. I wonder if it could be partially 'cause I'm paying so much attention to the US elections that I feel like it's important, or what, but I somehow just wanted to vote.

Took me ages to figure out who I'd vote for, though, 'cause I'm so used to just looking at the party platforms and voting for the party. I had to figure out exactly what I thought would be the most important issue for me and then find a candidate who represented me best. An interesting system, to be sure.

So sounds like we sort of had a similar first time. W00t!
